History
The club was founded in a café in May 1978 and the first (self-appointed) committee consisted of the following 4 members: Charly Massaux, President, worked at ESCAP; Jean Hambra, Vice-President, was station manager at SABENA; Georges Legros, Treasurer, was the first manager of European Asian Bank; Georges Volckaert, Secretary, was SABENA manager in Bangkok. Three years later, on October 30th 1981, the official constitution of the Belgian Club of Thailand was a fact.
Over the years, the club has progressed tremendously thanks to its very active members. The club used to have a library with over 700 titles and, together with the Dutch Cultural Society, provided lessons in Dutch at the International Schools. The basic aim was and is: ’A home away from home’.
